Job Description
SMG is a leading company specializing in the management of privately owned public assembly facilities, and they are currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Barista at Franklin's Cafe. Situated near the historic Greek Theatre within Griffith Park, Franklin's Cafe is a charming and intimate establishment that serves freshly made-to-order coffee and espresso beverages along with a variety of delicious fresh food options. The cafe operates in close proximity to the Roosevelt Golf Course and serves a diverse clientele ranging from local residents of the Los Feliz community to visitors from across the globe who frequent Griffith Park. As a pet-friendly and engaging environment, Franklin's Cafe seeks enthusiastic and friendly staff members who thrive in a dynamic setting.
The available Barista position is part-time, hourly, and non-exempt, offering a competitive pay rate of $19.20 per hour. This role reports directly to the Food and Beverage (F&B) Supervisor. The Barista plays a critical role in ensuring a positive customer experience through accurate payment handling, order expediting, and delivering fast and courteous service. Staff members are expected to engage with customers warmly by greeting them, offering detailed product information, and making helpful sales suggestions that enhance the guest experience. The environment fosters teamwork among a small but energetic group of baristas and cooks who work hand in hand to maintain high-quality service standards.
Baristas are also responsible for adhering to all SMG operational policies, including safety, security, and branded concept guidelines, ensuring a secure and efficient workplace during their shifts. They must be adept at preparing a wide range of coffee beverages to exact recipe and presentation standards while keeping the workspace organized to facilitate smooth operations. In addition to beverage preparation, Baristas assist in restocking food and beverage shelves, maintaining cleanliness throughout the cafe, and acting as representatives of SMG by providing skilled and courteous guest service. The role also includes responsibilities related to training new employees, delivering constructive feedback to encourage success, and reporting customer concerns or complaints to supervisors or managers. Overall, this position calls for individuals who possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a pleasant personality, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment during various shifts, including holidays and weekends.
For those interested in this role, Franklin's Cafe requires candidates to have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED, sufficient mathematical skills to manage cash transactions accurately, and proficiency in spoken and written English to communicate clearly with customers and team members. Additional qualifications include current ServeSafe certification, Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training, and a negative TB test. The physical demands of the position entail the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stay on their feet for extended periods, and perform tasks both inside and outside the facility as needed. Franklin's Cafe values diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and protected veterans. This position not only offers a chance to join a vibrant team but also the opportunity to be part of a welcoming community space in one of Los Angeles' most iconic parks.
