This opportunity is for a Barista role within the Food Service department at St. Jude. The position is designed to ensure that service standards are met and surpassed by creating an exceptional experience for customers. This includes providing prompt service, preparing quality beverages and products, and maintaining cleanliness, safety, and readiness in all practices. The Barista position is a pivotal role that involves managing day-to-day activities such as operating the cash register, supporting catering and pantry duties, and updating the department's computerized inventory control management system. The role operates under less supervision and requires a blend of customer service skills, food safety knowledge, and operational abilities specific to a fast-paced hospital environment.
This position offers a scheduled workweek from Monday to Friday, with varying shifts including 6 am to 2:30 pm, 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, and 8 am to 4:30 pm; specific days will be determined. It is important to note that these positions will not begin until July 2026. The hourly wage for this role ranges from $19.00 to $30.00, depending on experience, certification, and other relevant factors.
The Barista role at St. Jude is more than a job—it is part of a mission-driven environment where you contribute to the wellbeing of children and their families. You will be expected to maintain a safe and sanitary food service operation in accordance with regulatory standards, including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines. Responsibilities also include responding to customer inquiries with courteous service, understanding dietary restrictions and allergen considerations, and escalating any customer concerns appropriately. Training is provided for seasonal beverages and promotions, and all employees are expected to complete annual competencies.
Working at St. Jude means being part of an institution that values teamwork, continuous learning, and a dedication to providing care in an environment free from hazards and infections. Employees must be physically fit, able to handle some lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds, and adaptable to sometimes fast-paced, stressful situations. The workplace environment involves standing, walking, and using hands regularly, with occasional exposure to extreme heat and chemicals typical in food service settings. This role demands excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to meeting customer needs.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital offers an exceptional benefits package creating a supportive workplace culture.
