The Barista position at SkyPark Coffee House is a pivotal role that entails more than just preparing and serving coffee drinks—it involves being a knowledgeable ambassador for the brand and its products. Baristas are responsible for engaging with guests to understand their interests and preferences, educating them about the coffee menu, brewing methods, and brewing equipment, thus promoting coffee consumption through informed conversation and demonstration. They prepare a variety of espresso-based drinks, including espresso, espresso lungo, cafe latte, and cappuccino, following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques to maintain consistency and quality.
Beyond the preparation of beverages, the Barista plays an active role in maintaining the coffee bar’s inventory by replenishing supplies ranging from coffee beans to pastries and equipment. They ensure that the equipment is in working order by adhering to operational instructions, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting minor breakdowns, and coordinating repairs when necessary. Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following sanitation regulations and organizational standards is a top priority for the role.
Baristas contribute to the operational success of the store by improving quality results through studying and redesigning processes, implementing changes to enhance the customer experience, and maintaining the overall appearance of the store and coffee bar. They are encouraged to stay updated on industry trends and coffee knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and connecting with trade and food service publications.
This role reports directly to the Food and Beverage Manager, emphasizing accountability and professional representation of the SkyPark brand at all times. Candidates must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business. This full-time role requires a passion for coffee, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently during shifts. The Barista contributes significantly to attracting and retaining customers, boosting revenues by offering value-added services and products that meet and exceed guest expectations.

Job Qualifications

- prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for guests including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients
- available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift
Job Duties
- Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers
- preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries and cookies
- welcomes guests by determining their coffee interests and needs
- educates guests by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu
- sells coffees, coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines
- prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks such as espresso, espresso lungo, cafe latte, and cappuccino
- generates revenues by attracting new guests, defining new and expanded services and products
- maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply, stocking coffee brewing equipment, maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar
- keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
- maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
- improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes, implementing changes, maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar
- updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications, maintaining personal networks
