The position of Barista at Sodexo located at the University of Minnesota Medical Center Riverside Campus offers a part-time opportunity with a consistent pay rate of $18.00 per hour. The role involves working morning shifts on varying days, including rotating weekends, with exact schedules shared during the interview process. As a Barista, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional customer service by crafting high-quality beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, cafe lattes, teas, chai, and fruit blend drinks—all tailored according to customer preferences. This role is not just about beverage preparation but also about providing a warm, friendly, and personalized experience to each guest who visits the coffee bar.
The Barista will be responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations and ensuring speedy service delivery of all beverages and food items while educating guests about menu offerings and promoting sales through suggestive selling. The position also entails maintaining an attractive and organized coffee bar or cart area by arranging supplies and cups, as well as routine cleaning of coffee machines and preparation areas. Operational tasks include recording sales, handling cash transactions accurately via the cash register, and adhering to strict cash-handling procedures. The physical demands of the role require the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, often exceeding eight hours, and to perform tasks that involve reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting weights of up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

- Customer service related work experience
- Must have knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
- Starbucks Baristas may be required to be certified

Job Duties
- Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service
- Mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, cafe latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
- Works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
- Educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
- Arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
- Often cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
- Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures as required
- Significant walking or other means of mobility
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
