This full-time Barista position is based at Medline located at 940 Lively Boulevard, Wood Dale, IL 60191. The schedule runs Monday through Friday with hours that may vary, and further details will be provided during the interview process. The pay ranges from $20.00 to $21.00 per hour, with an additional internal employee referral bonus available. The role involves preparing and serving coffee and espresso drinks, along with related food and beverage items, while ensuring adherence to the highest standards of food safety and quality, including HACCP guidelines. As a Barista at Canteen, you will be responsible for operating point-of-sale devices, processing payments, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring proper presentation and portion control of all food and beverages. Customer interaction is a key part of the role, requiring you to greet customers warmly, provide detailed information about menu items, and assist with their purchase decisions. Working efficiently to prevent delays in service and maintaining a clean, sanitary workspace are also essential duties. Job Duties

  • Prepares espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes
  • enters orders accurately into POS device
  • accepts cash and charge payments
  • replenishes condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area
  • ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • follows HACCP standards
  • maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils
  • ensures proper food preparation by using approved recipes and following prescribed production standards
  • keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area
  • greets customers courteously and interacts in a manner to ensure customer satisfaction
  • relays relevant concerns from customers to supervisors
  • serves customers quickly and efficiently, and prevents delays in serving lines
  • demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to customers
  • serves as an advocate of selling techniques to customers by establishing good communication and assisting in buying decision-making process
  • ensures all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards
  • serves food neatly and attractively per standard
