Located at 4668 Cascade Rd, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546, SpartanNash is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join its team in a key customer-facing role. The position involves preparing coffee shop beverages and food, handling cash register operations, and delivering courteous customer service in a timely and efficient manner. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy interacting with customers while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
The primary focus of this position includes brewing, mixing, and blending beverages following established recipes, and preparing food items according to company procedures. Team members are responsible for ensuring all food and beverages are handled safely and that the work environment meets cleanliness standards. Operating the cash register efficiently to process various forms of payment like cash, checks, credit cards, gift certificates, and coupons is another essential function. Additionally, the role requires stocking and rotating coffee shop items and merchandise displays, maintaining product knowledge, and understanding the operation of coffee shop and register equipment.
A dedication to company policies regarding security, cash handling, and product quality is vital. Staff members must also ensure their department adheres to safety and sanitation standards, actively communicate store programs and specials to customers, and maintain a positive and customer-oriented atmosphere. Following personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines, food safety standards, and cleaning expectations is mandatory, as is supporting other store departments when necessary.
Physical demands require individuals in this role to be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, and maneuvering in a retail environment that may expose them to varying temperatures and noise levels. - One year of retail or related experience preferred
- Good verbal communication skills

Job Duties
- Prepare coffee shop beverages
- brew, mix and or blend beverages according to set standards
- Prepare food items according to procedures
- Ensure food and beverages are handled in a safe manner and according to established guidelines, and work is completed in a clean work environment
- Operate cash register to itemize customer purchases and process payments including, but not limited to
- cash, checks, credit cards, gift certificates, coupons, etc
- Stock items and rotate coffee items and merchandise displays
- Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations
- Understand use of check-stand equipment (i.e., register) and coffee shop equipment and its efficient operation
- Notify the department lead or manager if products and supplies need to be ordered
- Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling/cash drawer accounting procedures, product handling (i.e., damaged/spoiled products), etc
- Maintain a clean and well-stocked department
- ensure the department complies with company safety and sanitation procedures and standards
- Communicate the company programs (i.e., loyalty program, scans, etc.), in-store specials and coupons to customers, and models high standards of service to achieve a customer oriented store
- Follow all PPE and safety guidelines
- Follow all food safety and cleaning expectations
- Follow guest experience guidelines
- May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
