The role of Barista at Gregorys Coffee offers more than typical coffee shop work. This position is fundamentally about being an ambassador for the brand and its dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. Baristas are expected to learn and uphold company standards and protocols, becoming knowledgeable about the coffee program including the history, components, and brewing techniques of each coffee served. This role involves operating coffee brewing equipment such as grinders, scales, and timers, as well as managing point of sale systems and mobile payment technologies. Responsibilities include restocking supplies, performing opening and closing duties, maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the store, and perfecting latte art to enhance the guest experience. The barista serves as the face of Gregorys Coffee, ensuring that each interaction results in a positive and welcoming environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, taste and smell regularly
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly
- Willingness to work in environments with wet or humid conditions
- Ability to work in high or precarious places occasionally
- Understanding of safety practices related to electrical shock and mechanical equipment
- Authorization to work in the U.S. verified by eVerify
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, percentages, and apply basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions and solve problems
- Knowledge of Square point of sale system and Timestation software preferred
- Department of Health and Mental Hygiene certificate preferred

Job Duties
- Learn and maintain company standards and protocols
- Understand and speak knowledgeably about the company and coffee program
- Operate coffee brewing equipment, grinders, scales, timers, water towers, point of sale systems, and mobile payment system
- Restock all areas of the store including coffee bar and back rooms
- Perform opening, closing, and mid-day tasks
- Learn and perfect latte art
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the store including sweeping, mopping, cleaning drains, taking out trash, surface cleaning, and dishes
- Provide guests with a memorable experience
- Take guest orders and ensure complete and accurate order
- Resolve guest complaints professionally or escalate as needed
- Receive and sign for orders from suppliers
- Check quality of delivered items and accuracy of delivery based on invoices
- Take and record temperatures as required
- Work efficiently in a high-volume environment while maintaining service and quality
- Maintain health department standards
- Keep store stocked and organized including pastry case, condiment station, merchandiser, grab and go refrigerator, bathroom, and walk-in refrigerator
- Abide by employee dress code protocol
- Display a positive attitude and passion for coffee
