Within this setting, the position of Bar Back/Runner at Starwood Hotels represents an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic Food and Beverage team. The role supports the bartender and contributes directly to an unforgettable guest experience by managing beverage service efficiency and quality. Specifically, this position works closely with the bar team, ensuring that the bar is well-stocked, organized, and running smoothly throughout the service hours. As a Bar Back, you will be an extension of the bartender, responsible for setting up and breaking down the bar area before and after service, stocking the bar with liquor, mixers, and garnishes, preparing fresh garnishes according to set recipes and standards, maintaining ice supplies, and assisting with clearing glasses and bottles during service. You will play a vital role in supporting bartenders and ensuring all bar operations run seamlessly, contributing to the quality of service guests receive. In this role, meticulous attention to safety and compliance with hotel policies is expected, alongside maintaining a professional appearance and embodying the company’s values and vision.

Job Duties

  • Assist bartenders in setting up and breaking down the bar area before and after service, including arranging bottles, glassware, and bar tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
  • stock and replenish bar inventory including liquor, mixers, garnishes, and other supplies
  • prepare garnishes such as citrus wedges, olives, and herbs according to recipes and standards
  • monitor and manage the supply of ice ensuring ice bins are filled and machines function properly
  • provide support to bartenders during service including fetching and carrying items, clearing empty glasses and bottles, and assisting with guest requests
  • follow company and safety security policies and procedures including reporting maintenance problems and completing safety training
  • ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues
  • ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
