The Barback position at Palmas Restaurant Group serves as a foundational role within the beverage operations, acting as the primary support person to bartenders. This critical role involves keeping the bar area well-stocked with vital supplies such as spirits, beer, wine, mixers, ice, and garnishes. The Barback is responsible for transporting these products from storage areas to the outlet, which may include operating a golf cart to efficiently complete these tasks. In addition to stocking duties, this position assists bartenders in preparing essential bar products, including items like simple syrup, fresh lime juice, and various drink mixes, ensuring smooth service during busy hours.

As a Barback, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area is paramount, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for both guests and team members. The role also extends to delivering food and beverage orders to customers and collecting empty glasses from tables, enhancing overall guest satisfaction. The Barback plays an integral role in upholding the high standards set forth by the company, including strict adherence to food safety procedures, compliance with alcohol service laws, and participation in teamwork with other staff members. Employees are expected to embody the Disney 5-Keys Basics, Service Basics, and follow company guidelines at all times. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of restaurant experience
  • minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • must have or be able to obtain a State of Florida Food Safety Certificate
  • must have or be able to obtain a Florida Responsible Vendors Certificate
  • must be well versed in food safety including proper techniques for handling food and personal hygiene requirements
  • must be well versed in laws and company practices regarding the safe and legal service of alcoholic beverages
  • must be able to perform all necessary job functions
  • must be able to operate a golf cart
  • must be able to stand and be mobile for up to 4 consecutive hours
  • must be able to function in narrow spaces such as those found in kitchens and dining rooms
  • must be able to lift and carry equipment and food up to 50 pounds
  • must possess dexterity in lifting and carrying trays and other restaurant items
  • must be able to push and pull carts, doors etc
  • must be able to reach, bend, kneel, stoop and crouch
  • must be able to perform repetitive tasks
  • must be able to complete work duties in a variety of environmental conditions including coolers, freezers, kitchen environments and outdoors
  • must be able to work with foods containing various food allergens
  • must be able to communicate and interact politely and effectively with guests of all types
  • must be able to effectively satisfy guest demands
  • must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • must be fluent in the English language
  • must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • must be able to arrive for all assigned shifts on-time
  • must be able to comply with company appearance guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous bartending or barback experience preferred
  • knowledge of Mexican cuisine and beverages a plus
  • must have or be able to obtain a State of Florida Food Safety Certificate
  • must have or be able to obtain a Florida Responsible Vendors Certificate
  • must be well versed in laws and company practices regarding the safe and legal service of alcoholic beverages

Job Duties

  • Prepare the bar area for guest arrival
  • maintain proper levels of all essential bar items during service
  • assist bartender with any necessary tasks
  • receive and properly store all liquor, beer and wine orders
  • work with bartender to ensure proper par levels of all bar items are maintained
  • maintain the bar area in a clean and organized condition
  • prepare essential bar products such as simple syrup, fresh lime juice, and drink mixes as necessary
  • complete all assigned opening and closing duties
  • display proper food safety procedures at all times
  • follow all necessary laws and processes for the safe service of alcohol
  • work closely with all other team members and display good teamwork
  • follow the Disney 5-Keys Basics, Service Basics and Company guidelines at all times
  • all other tasks as assigned
