The iconic Hotel del Coronado is a historic and luxurious beachfront resort located on Coronado Island, just minutes from Downtown San Diego. As a Barback (Seasonal) at Hotel del Coronado, you will play a vital role in the Food & Beverage team by ensuring the bar operates smoothly and at the highest standards. This position is crucial in maintaining an exceptional guest experience as you prepare bar areas for service, keep the bar stocked, and support bartenders with all necessary ingredients and supplies. This role requires attention to detail and a commitment to health and safety standards while contributing to the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that defines this historic resort.
In this seasonal role, your daily responsibilities will include cutting, slicing, and peeling garnishes and fruits, mixing juices, managing beer kegs and taps, assisting with inventory management, and keeping bar and storage areas clean and orderly. You will collaborate closely with bartenders and other team members to maintain seamless operations, ensuring guests receive timely and attentive service. Compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness regulations is paramount, guaranteeing the wellbeing of guests and staff alike.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in food and beverage or hospitality industry preferred
- ability to stand for extended periods
- capable of lifting 50 pounds or more
- flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- legal eligibility to work in the United States
- strong interpersonal skills
- commitment to delivering excellent guest service
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in a barback or similar role preferred
- knowledge of bar operations and beverage service
- ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- strong communication and teamwork skills
- attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
- basic understanding of health and safety regulations
- ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks
Job Duties
- Prepare fresh ingredients including cutting, slicing, and peeling garnishes and fruits
- mix juices and place all prepared supplies in designated containers
- keep the bar stocked by working closely with bartenders to ensure essentials like glassware, ice, produce, condiments, and paper products are available
- manage beer kegs and taps by transporting, replacing, and maintaining them for uninterrupted service
- assist with inventory management by retrieving orders, visually checking stock, reconciling requisitions, and re-checking upon delivery
- keep bar and storage areas clean, including beer lockers and refrigerators
- comply with regulatory standards by maintaining health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness regulations
