The Barback position at Paragon Tropicana is essential to maintaining a smooth and efficient beverage service operation. This role supports the bartending team by cleaning the bar area, replenishing supplies such as liquor, beer, wine, paper products, fruit, ice, and glasses, and assisting with bar service as needed. The ideal candidate is motivated, flexible, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment that demands quick response times and high service standards. The barback is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar and surrounding areas, ensuring a pleasant atmosphere for guests and supporting the bartenders in delivering quality beverage service. This position requires physical stamina, as lifting and moving objects weighing up to 100 pounds is necessary. Candidates must also exhibit strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
Additional responsibilities include helping serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, stocking refrigerators with bottled drinks, preparing garnishes such as sliced fruit, washing and polishing glassware and bar equipment, replacing empty beer kegs, and removing trash. Barbacks at Paragon Tropicana are expected to follow strict service guidelines, including verifying guest identification to ensure legal alcohol service. A commitment to appearance and adherence to uniform policies for the pool area is also required. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in barback or similar hospitality role preferred
- Food Handlers Card required
- Alcohol Awareness Card required
- Non Gaming Card required
- Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must comply with uniform and appearance standards
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- May assist bartender in serving alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages as needed
- Stocks refrigerating units with bottled beer, water and other beverages
- Able to push/pull up to 100 lbs
- Replaces empty beer kegs with full ones
- Slices and pits fruit used to garnish drinks
- Washes glasses, bar, and equipment, and polishes bar fixtures
- Cleans bar floor and surrounding area
- Removes empty bottles and trash
- Mixes and prepares flavors for mixed drinks
- Provides beverage service when needed
- Requests identification from guests when legal age is questioned and serves alcoholic beverages in accordance with service guidelines
- Adheres to uniform and appearance policy for the pool area
- Communicates and interacts with guests and team members in a professional and upbeat manner
- Maintains an open line of communication with supervisors and managers concerning all guest services related issues, problems and/or solutions
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with fellow team members, guests and vendors
- Accepts performance feedback in a professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
