The Barback position at JW Marriott serves an essential role within the Beverage Department, reporting directly to the Beverage Manager. This role involves assisting bartenders by providing essential support to ensure efficient beverage preparation and service. The Barback’s responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area, preparing garnishes, and stocking all necessary items such as glassware, condiments, beer, and paper products. This position helps to uphold the high standards of beverage service that JW Marriott guests expect. Shift schedules are varied, requiring flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

As a Barback, the individual contributes directly to fostering an exceptional guest experience by anticipating and exceeding guest needs in a fast-paced environment. The role requires adherence to JW Marriott's strict policies on safety, sanitation, and hospitality standards, alongside excellent teamwork and communication skills. Candidates must be capable of physical work including lifting up to 50 pounds and working efficiently under pressure while maintaining composure and professionalism.

Additionally, the Barback is expected to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of beverages including food, wine, beer, spirits, non-alcoholic drinks, and specialty recipes. The position also involves use of POS systems to record orders and handle transactions accurately. The work environment may include high noise levels, exposure to varying temperatures, and compliance with safety and health regulations. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and possess required health and awareness cards specific to the Clark County and Nevada state regulations, such as the Clark County Health Card, Las Vegas Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card), and a Non-Gaming Sheriffs card.
