The Barback role at Oak View Group is a vital support position within the live event hospitality sector. The Barback is responsible for assisting the bartender by restocking products to keep bars fully supplied throughout the event. This includes managing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, handling keg operations such as moving and tapping kegs, and ensuring the bar area is clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation and safety standards.
Beyond restocking duties, the Barback must maintain excellent guest service through keen attention to guest needs and adherence to regulations surrounding alcohol dispensing. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in barback or similar support role preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must possess or be able to obtain valid food handling and alcohol service permits as required by state and federal law
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Physical ability to handle lifting and restocking tasks
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to adhere to all safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume bar capacity is preferred
- Ability to work in a team-oriented event-driven environment
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
- Possess a valid food handling certificate and alcohol service permit if required by state and federal regulations
- Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to product inventory
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
Job Duties
- Responsible for stocking products for the bar, including N/A beverages, alcoholic beverages, icing wells, sweeping and mopping the bar, moving kegs in and out of keg coolers, and tapping kegs
- Drafting beer and pouring wine for guest orders, running supplies for bartenders' back-up fruit, napkins, cups, utensils, and stirrers
- Assures that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to the start of the event
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar and surrounding areas utilizing sanitation procedures
- this includes mopping floors, cleaning and stacking floor mats, emptying and relining trash cans, and keeping closet areas clear of debris and clutter
- The 4K TCL Bar and Sky Club are high-profile locations frequently visited and shown by our client and must be kept in a clean and orderly fashion
- Responsible for recognizing guests that are visibly intoxicated and taking action to make bartenders aware of such individuals
- Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
- Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
