The Barback role at Makers Union is essential to maintaining the smooth operation of the bar within this high-energy environment. As a Barback, you will support bartenders by ensuring the bar is fully stocked with drinks, mixers, and all necessary supplies, allowing bartenders to provide efficient and high-quality customer service. Responsibilities include preparing garnishes, setting up stations before opening, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area, and assisting bartenders during busy periods by fetching ingredients and helping with drink preparation. The role also involves washing glassware and utensils, maintaining bar equipment, and disposing of waste to keep the space tidy and professional.

This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work well in a fast-paced setting, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, is necessary to meet the needs of the business. Job Requirements

  • stand and walk continuously throughout shift up to 8 hours
  • lift and carry up to 50 lbs cases of liquor, kegs, ice bins
  • bend, stoop, squat, and reach frequently
  • push and pull carts or dollies
  • work in loud, crowded, and fast-paced bar environments
  • repetitive use of hands and arms for restocking and cleaning
