The position of Barback Lead at the Thomas M. Menino Convention and Exhibition Center offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and bar service. This hourly role, paying $29.60, is critical to the smooth operation and high-quality service provided by the Beverage Department. The Barback Lead supports front-of-house beverage operations and supervises the work of Barbacks to ensure bar services are executed according to Levy's standards and event-specific requirements outlined in Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). Responsibilities include setting up bars, replenishing stock, managing bar equipment and supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in all bar areas. This role also involves monitoring and ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service policies.
The Barback Lead position requires a proactive individual able to walk and stand for the entire shift and handle physical tasks such as lifting and moving heavy items and equipment. Job Duties
- Reviews Banquet Event Orders to check for last minute changes and special set-ups
- verifies service set ups match BEO specifications
- assigns Barbacks to set-up, distribute, replenish and break-down bars
- pushes bar fronts, product tables, and china tables into designated locations
- sets up and stocks bar fronts and accessory tables according to Levy standards
- maintains product and supplies levels throughout events
- ensures proper functioning of liquor room and refrigeration equipment and reports malfunctions
- maintains cleanliness and organization of all bar areas including daily and deep cleaning per sanitation checklists
- checks expiration dates on open bottles and discards expired product
- breaks down and puts away products and supplies in designated locations
- performs equipment inventory as needed
- completes sanitation and temperature logs
- communicates challenges and relevant information to management
- delivers exceptional service with urgency
- acts with safety and sanitation practices and reports hazards
- adheres to company guidelines and responsible alcohol service policies
- displays positive attitude and assists team members when needed
