The Barback at Cutwater Spirits, located in San Diego (Miramar), plays an instrumental role in ensuring smooth daily bar operations and delivering exceptional customer service. This part-time position offers a competitive wage of $18 per hour plus tips and requires availability for at least three days per week, including nights and weekends. Reporting directly to the Bar Manager, the Barback is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized bar environment, keeping inventory well-stocked, preparing fresh garnishes, and juicing citrus daily. The role demands multitasking and managing a fast-paced workload, while continuously engaging guests to ensure their satisfaction and positive experiences. Beyond supporting bartenders and promptly attending to patrons' needs, the Barback demonstrates knowledge of the brand, product line, and company mission, contributing to an elevated customer journey. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 1 year food service experience
- ability to work nights and weekends
- maintain a fast-paced work environment
- multitasking skills
- strong communication skills
- ability to stand for extended periods
- possession of or ability to obtain food handler’s card
- obtain RABS certification within 30 days
- legal age to serve alcohol
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- at least 1 year experience in food service industry
- preferred 1 year barback experience
- food handler’s card
- RABS certification required within first 30 days
Job Duties
- Keep bar and bar area clean, organized, and free of any spills
- keep the bar fully stocked at all times including juices, batches, flatware, service stations, napkins
- change empty beer kegs
- prep garnishes such as lemon and lime wheels, mint, dehydrated fruit, edible flowers, berries, herbs, olives and label and date containers
- refill ice wells
- juice citrus daily and properly store in labeled and dated bottles
- continuously keep glassware stocked and polished
- empty bus tubs from bar area and have washed before returning
- restock liquor bottles, citrus, garnishes, canned cocktails
- put away all liquor deliveries including beer, canned cocktails, spirits, wine
- monitor patron intoxication levels and alert management
- run food and clear plates promptly including pre-bussing
- assist bartenders with bar and team requests
- follow recipes and batch syrups as needed
- operate POS system and assist entering orders
- identify customer issues and work with management to resolve
- display enthusiasm for brand, products and mission
- offer knowledgeable recommendations
- check customer ID compliance
- perform opening and closing tasks daily
- manage multiple tasks including busser, food runner, server or bartender duties when appropriate
- embrace and fulfill core values and culture of Cutwater Spirits
- perform other assigned duties
