Being a significant entity within the hospitality and entertainment sector, Pueblo of Sandia combines its cultural heritage with modern service excellence to offer a unique and vibrant experience to its guests at various bars, restaurants, and casino floor drink stations throughout the venue.
The Barback position at Pueblo of Sandia plays a vital supportive role in the food and beverage operations, assisting bartenders and beverage servers in providing outstanding service to guests. This full-time position based in Albuquerque, NM, offers an hourly wage between $12.92 and $14.54 and includes a variety of responsibilities that ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of multiple bars, casino floor drink stations, and restaurants. The Barback’s tasks heavily focus on maintaining cleanliness, restocking supplies, and managing equipment to uphold excellent service standards and meet health and safety regulations.
Besides the operational support, the Barback will be involved in all facets of bar and casino beverage station maintenance including stocking refrigerating units using FIFO (first in, first out) rotation, replacing empty kegs and soda bibs safely, preparing garnishes, cleaning and polishing bar equipment, and assisting with food service as required. The role requires regular communication and coordination with supervisors and team members to ensure product levels meet demand and all service areas remain organized and well-maintained.
The candidate will also participate in pre-shift and daily meetings focused on service updates, specials, and promotions, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment. The Barback will contribute to responsible alcohol service by verifying patron identification and refusing service to impaired individuals, highlighting the position's role in guest safety and compliance.
Physical demands of the role require resilience and the ability to lift up to 150 lbs, perform repetitive manual tasks, and maintain mobility throughout the work area. The environment may involve both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to temperature extremes and variable conditions. Team members must uphold high standards of hygiene and safety procedures, including obtaining necessary certifications such as the New Mexico Alcohol Server’s Certification and Food Handlers Certification.
