Job Description

The Pueblo of Sandia operates a vibrant hospitality and entertainment complex that includes multiple bars, casino floor drink stations, and restaurants. Renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences, this establishment operates under a philosophy rooted in integrity, fairness, collaboration, communication, and recognition for performance excellence. These core values drive efforts to attract and retain a qualified workforce, provide opportunities for career growth, and ensure ongoing success that benefits both employees and the community alike. The Pueblo of Sandia emphasizes community-centric operations while maintaining professional standards seen in modern hospitality settings, making it a reputable employer in the region.

This position as a Barback Support Team Member plays a vital role in assisting the bartenders and beverage servers to maintain smooth service delivery across various outlets, including bars, casino floor drink stations, and restaurants. The role involves a combination of physical and administrative tasks that support the overall efficiency of beverage service operations. Responsibilities range from maintaining cleanliness and ensuring that all bar equipment and utensils are functioning and sanitary, to timely replenishment of bar and casino floor supplies such as liquor, beer, fruit, ice, cups, napkins, and glassware. The Barback Support Team Member operates various equipment including ice machines, refrigerators, chillers, glass washers, and draft systems while adhering to stringent safety and health guidelines.

Candidates for this role also support bartenders by preparing garnishes, assisting with safe lifting of heavy items such as beer kegs, and managing waste removal tasks, including trash, cardboard, mop heads, and dirty rags. This position demands strict adherence to responsible alcohol service protocols, ensuring patrons are properly identified and service is refused to impaired guests in compliance with regulatory standards. Effective communication through participation in pre-shift meetings, daily stand-ups, and timely completion of computer-assisted training are integral to the success of this position. Additionally, the role entails maintaining cleanliness and organization of the venues, including power washing carts, floormats, and trash cans, as well as routine cleaning of floors and storage areas.

Those in this position are expected to display excellent interpersonal skills, working seamlessly with bartenders, servers, and management, and maintaining a strong customer service orientation. Physical demands are high, requiring the ability to lift up to 150 pounds safely, balance, crawl, crouch, climb, and conduct repetitive movements with fingers, hands, and wrists. The role requires punctual and regular attendance to fulfill the essential responsibilities associated with each shift, which may include a varied schedule of days, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and overtime as necessary.

To be eligible, candidates must be at least 21 years old with a minimum of six months experience in food and beverage service. While a high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred, relevant work experience may be considered for meeting educational requirements. Candidates must have the ability to pass stringent background checks, pre-employment, and random drug screenings, and must obtain and maintain a New Mexico Alcohol Server's License upon hire. This comprehensive role is pivotal in ensuring guests receive uninterrupted, high-quality beverage service in a clean and professionally maintained environment, doubling as a support and safety champion within the hospitality team.
