The role of Barback at Azul Hospitality is a vital position aimed at supporting the efficient delivery of food and beverage services within the restaurant and bar areas. This is a full-time position that requires an individual who is detail-oriented, physically capable, and proactive in assisting bartenders and the service team to exceed guest expectations. The Barback’s responsibilities are multifaceted, including stocking and preparing essential bar items such as glassware, garnishes, and cleaning supplies, as well as ensuring that all bar equipment is maintained in optimal working condition. As part of the essential duties, the Barback helps in recipe batching, ice molding, and liquor infusions, contributing directly to the quality and availability of beverages served. They also play a significant role in maintaining cleanliness and organization by clearing tables, wiping surfaces, and managing waste disposal. The position requires interaction with guests indirectly by supporting bartenders in processing orders through the point-of-sale system during busy periods, underscoring the importance of communication and teamwork.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior hospitality or restaurant experience preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol
  • Safe Server Alcohol and Food certification preferred
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and stand for up to four hours
  • Capable of lifting up to 45 lbs and pushing/pulling equipment up to 250 lbs
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Ability to operate office equipment and basic computer literacy
  • Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • Regular attendance is essential
  • Compliance with company safety and operational policies
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, climbing, and repetitive motions

Job Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education
  • Prior hospitality or restaurant experience preferred
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace
  • Good communication skills, verbal, written and electronic
  • Excellent leadership capability and customer relations skills

  • Knowledgeable about basic function of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS
  • Self-driven and able to work independently

  • Knowledge of table and bar service
  • Knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and flavor profiles

Job Duties

  • Stocks bar items such as glassware, straws, toothpicks, napkins, garnishes, ice, towels, and cleaning supplies
  • Assists with recipe batching, ice molding, liquor infusions, washing and preparing garnishes
  • Ensures that taps, coolers, and other appliances like blenders or coffee makers are clean and in working order
  • Assists bartenders with taking customer orders and processing orders in the point-of-sale system during peak business hours
  • Clears tables throughout the dining experience using proper methods for removing dishes, glassware, and silverware
  • Cleans bar and table surfaces throughout the shift
  • Wipes down chairs, railings, and other high-touch surfaces
  • Removes and disposes bags from trash receptacles in and around the bar area
  • Sweeps and mops in and around bar service areas and customer common areas
  • Ensures all liquor, beer and wine product is put away safely and always secured
  • May be called upon to wash glassware and dishes if steward is behind
  • Assists service team as necessary to meet and exceed guest expectations
  • Performs all other duties assigned by managers and supervisors
