Job Description

One World Observatory, located at the summit of One World Trade Center, stands as a premier landmark offering breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the New York City skyline. As the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, it attracts local, national, and international visitors seeking an unmatched sightseeing experience. Guests embark on their visit via the SkyPod™ Elevators, which provide a captivating 47-second journey depicting the rise of New York City. The Observatory features notable experiences such as the See Forever™ Theater and City Pulse, where knowledgeable tour guides engage visitors with informative and interactive content. Additionally, the venue includes ONE Dine, an elevated American cuisine restaurant and bar that offers an array of beers, wines, and specialty cocktails. For private functions, ASPIRE at One World Observatory presents a 9,000 square foot event space with spectacular views, accommodating up to 450 guests.

The Barback role is a vital position within this dynamic hospitality environment, integral to maintaining the smooth operation of the bar and enhancing guest satisfaction. Working atop a world-famous observation destination, the Barback supports bartenders by ensuring that supplies, equipment, and necessary resources are always available to deliver swift, efficient, and high-quality service. The role demands attention to detail, the ability to anticipate operational needs, and a strong commitment to upholding professional standards, contributing to an exceptional and memorable visitor experience. This position is well-suited to individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume venues and who are passionate about guest service. Employment in this role is on-site at One World Observatory in New York City, with offered compensation of $11.35 per hour plus eligible gratuities. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • at least one year of experience preferably within the hospitality industry
  • basic knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • commitment to exceptional guest service
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing priorities
  • maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene
  • physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Provide bartenders with the supplies, equipment, and support needed to deliver exceptional guest service
  • stock and replenish bar supplies, including filling ice bins and restocking inventory as needed
  • anticipate operational needs throughout each shift to support efficient bar service
  • maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked bar and service areas
  • prepare assigned work areas and complete opening and closing responsibilities as instructed
  • follow operating standards outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual
  • maintain prompt, high-quality service standards at all times
  • maintain a professional, courteous, and guest-focused demeanor in all guest interactions
  • practice safe work habits by following all company safety policies, procedures, regulations, and required training
  • perform other duties as assigned by leadership
