Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in bar or food service preferred
  • ability to lift 50 lbs
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and event days
  • must be at least 18 years old
  • willingness to obtain ServSafe Alcohol Safety Certification
  • ability to follow liquor laws and safety protocols
  • physical stamina for long periods of standing and walking
  • positive attitude and team-oriented mindset

  • Willingness to obtain ServSafe Alcohol Safety Certification and Food Handling Certification
  • must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • positive, team-oriented attitude and excellent customer service skills
  • availability to work all UW-Madison Football games and a majority of events at the Kohl Center for the 2026-2027 season
  • ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • ability to stand and walk for long hours

Job Duties

  • Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • sets up assigned bars
  • requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
  • maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner
  • assists bartenders in restocking tasks mid-event such as refilling ice, replacing the soda syrup when empty, restocking cups/napkins/straws
  • checks guests at the bar for proper identification when necessary
  • detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained
  • demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws
  • performs general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards
  • keeps work area clean and organized
  • addresses bar trash bins when full
  • sanitizes work surfaces
  • ensures beverage machine is cleaned after high volume usage
  • clears any empty beverages/plates/etc. from the tables and chairs in common area
  • arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area
  • wash and sterilize stemware when applicable
  • perform other duties as assigned such as assisting club supervisor with buffet needs
