Job Description
The Temecula/Vail Lake KOA is a premier outdoor campground destination nestled in the scenic landscape of Southern California. Known for its year-round camping opportunities, the KOA campground is surrounded by a grove of oak trees and lies in close proximity to the renowned Temecula wine country, the stunning Vail Lake, and an extensive network of mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking trails. The park is designed to provide guests with a memorable outdoor experience by offering excellent service and a host of amenities that cater to families, outdoor enthusiasts, and travelers seeking relaxation amidst nature.
The campground prides itself on creating an environment where guests can build lifelong memories through quality service and unique recreational experiences. As part of the hospitality and outdoor recreation industry, Temecula/Vail Lake KOA blends natural beauty with outstanding customer service to maintain its reputation as one of the top camping destinations in the region.
We are currently seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our food service and bartending team. This role is ideal for those who enjoy working in a dynamic, fun yet challenging environment while meeting new people daily. The position is part-time, offering flexible hours primarily from Thursday through Sunday, including holiday weekends, with shifts scheduled as needed based on campground occupancy. Hourly pay starts at $16.90 plus tips, reflecting our commitment to fairly compensating staff who help enhance the guest experience.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Food & Beverage Department Manager and play a vital role in delivering high-quality service, maintaining cleanliness and compliance with health codes, and ensuring guest satisfaction. Responsibilities range from preparing and serving beverages—including beer, wine, and spirits—to managing food preparation areas and assisting with inventory. The team member will float between bartending, bar backing, and operating the mobile beverage cart during key shifts, particularly on weekends when activity levels peak.
In addition to hospitality duties, this role requires good communication skills using tools such as Basecamp for effective coordination with management and other staff. Candidates should be proactive in guest management, taking initiative to resolve challenges and uphold campground policies with professionalism. Flexibility, multitasking abilities, and a positive attitude are essential traits, as shifts may vary week to week and can require standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 pounds.
Those who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy contributing to a team-oriented culture will find this position rewarding. Obtaining or holding a Food Handler's Permit and completing TIPS training for responsible alcohol service is necessary to meet health and safety standards. The position offers opportunities to gain valuable experience in food service, customer interaction, and outdoor hospitality, making it a great stepping stone for a career in the hospitality industry or a fulfilling part-time engagement for those passionate about serving others in a beautiful natural setting.
