The role we are currently looking to fill is that of a Bar Porter, a key position within our bar team that ensures smooth operations and contributes significantly to guest satisfaction. As a Bar Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar environment. This includes replenishing liquor, beer, wine, ice, and glassware as necessary throughout shifts. You will also help bartenders by managing inventory through bar pulls and product rotations to maintain freshness and ensure all items are properly labeled, dated, covered, and refrigerated as required.
Your duties will extend beyond stocking and cleaning, as you will be involved in opening and closing bar responsibilities, including setting up and breaking down the bar, cleaning glassware, countertops, and floors. This role requires a proactive approach to maintain a bar that is both functional and welcoming. In addition to these logistical tasks, the Bar Porter will assist in preparing fruits and making scratch recipes if applicable, emphasizing the culinary contribution to the beverage service.
Beyond support, the Bar Porter role involves active guest engagement—welcoming patrons, addressing inquiries politely, assisting with food delivery, pre-bussing tables, and reacting quickly to guest needs to ensure ongoing satisfaction. You will work closely with fellow team members such as hosts, servers, and other bussers to create a seamless service experience. Moreover, you will play a part in creating memorable guest experiences and generating "Raving Fans" by being attentive, friendly, and professionally handling any guest concerns or issues, escalating them to management as necessary.
This position demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency. The atmosphere can be fast-paced and demanding, so maintaining composure and exhibiting a positive and energetic attitude toward guests and team members alike is crucial. Physical demands are part of the daily routine in this role, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting items up to 10 pounds regularly. The ability to perform repetitive tasks involving hand and wrist movements and the capacity to work in varying temperature and noise environments is essential.
Overall, the Bar Porter role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic, guest-focused setting and who take pride in supporting a high-performing bar team. It is ideal for candidates with a high school diploma or GED equivalent who have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to safety and cleanliness standards. If you are passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to an environment where every guest leaves satisfied, this role offers a rewarding path to develop your skills and be part of a dedicated team.
