The Bar Manager role at Zim's Cafe is a leadership position that plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the bar area. The bar manager will be responsible for overseeing every aspect of the bar's supervision including resource management, stock control, staff coordination, and sales management. This role requires a highly skilled and experienced professional who can efficiently run the bar with meticulous attention to detail. The bar manager must maintain constant communication with both staff and customers to ensure exemplary standards of service. This includes greeting customers warmly, offering knowledgeable recommendations, assisting staff as needed, and ensuring every customer enjoys a great experience. In addition to customer service, the bar manager will monitor and analyze the bar’s financial performance, controlling costs and maximizing revenue.
Key responsibilities include managing inventory by conducting weekly bar stock counts, organizing products, ordering supplies, and maintaining relationships with vendors. The bar manager will submit month-end inventory reports to senior management and actively supervise bar staff by assigning duties, scheduling shifts, and facilitating staff training and development. Leadership skills will be essential to foster a culture of excellence, promote hospitality, and enforce safety and sanitation standards including responsible alcohol service certification among bartenders. - Five years equivalent experience in high volume, excellent bars or five years in Holly Hill Restaurant group in supporting roles
- TIPS Alcohol Certification or the equivalent
- Food Service Manager Certification

Job Duties
- Ensure positive guest service in all areas
- respond to complaints and take appropriate action to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests
- perform opening and closing duties for bar and restaurant
- conduct bar inventory, stock products, and organize stock
- count and record inventory weekly
- order products effectively and efficiently on a weekly basis
- manage relationships with vendors
- receive orders and submit month-end valued inventory to GM, DOO, and COO
- develop and supervise bar staff including table service
- assign and distribute opening, prep, and closing duties among bar staff and ensure completion
- maintain effective communication with all staff including explanation of drink specials to wait staff
- schedule bar staff sidework and ensure completion each shift
- recruit, hire, and train new bar staff in collaboration with GM
- educate and promote all staff about beer, wine, and spirits
- help create a culture of excellence and authentic hospitality
- ensure bartenders are certified in safe and responsible alcohol service
- enforce health, safety, and sanitation rules and standards
- manage prime costs and know cost of goods of beverages
- keep and track waste log
- schedule labor appropriately
- base purchases on strict inventory needs and help GM track weekly prime cost report
- build bar sales through creative drinks, special programs, and consistent drink preparation
- maintain excellent service standards
- increase beverage sales in other restaurant areas through training and communication
