Job Description

The Pulpo Group is a renowned hospitality company known for its commitment to creating exceptional dining and beverage experiences. With a strong presence in Ann Arbor, the company prides itself on its dedication to quality, creativity, and a culture that fosters continuous learning and growth. The Pulpo Group operates upscale restaurants that are respected for their innovative menus and outstanding guest service. The group's philosophy centers on far more than just great cocktails or food; it emphasizes building meaningful relationships with guests and developing hospitality professionals who are passionate and take pride in their craft.

The role of Bar Manager at The Pulpo Group is a unique opportunity for a seasoned beverage professional to lead and shape one of their esteemed beverage programs. This full-time position demands a leader who is both creatively inspired and operationally disciplined, someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The Bar Manager will be responsible for overseeing cocktail, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage programs, ensuring every drink served meets the company’s high standards for quality, consistency, and presentation. The position also involves developing seasonal cocktail menus that reflect current industry trends and bringing fresh ideas to the team to keep the beverage offerings innovative and engaging.

Additionally, the Bar Manager will play a crucial role in recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing a talented bar team, fostering a culture of hospitality and accountability. This includes conducting beverage education sessions such as tastings and pre-shift meetings and partnering with restaurant leadership on hiring, scheduling, and performance management. Operational excellence is key to this role, including maintaining efficient and clean bar operations, supporting both bar and dining room service, and ensuring all opening, closing, and sanitation standards are met consistently.

The manager will also be expected to manage inventory, oversee ordering and receiving, and implement cost controls to optimize the beverage program’s financial performance. Strong partnerships with vendors and continuous analysis of beverage sales and labor performance will be vital to maintaining profitability while delivering exceptional quality and hospitality. Working at The Pulpo Group means joining a collaborative leadership team that values creativity and continuous improvement and offers competitive salary packages, health and dental insurance, life insurance, paid time off, and many other benefits. This role is perfect for someone ready to take the next step in their career within a dynamic and growing restaurant group.
