Job Description
Arquet is a new, ingredient-driven California restaurant located in San Francisco's iconic Ferry Building. Founded by the team behind the Michelin-starred Sorrel, Arquet brings a fresh and refined yet casual dining experience centered around wood-fired cooking and seasonal, locally sourced produce. The restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients is exemplified by its partnerships with the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, ensuring that every dish reflects the best of what California's rich culinary landscape has to offer. Situated along the waterfront, Arquet offers guests a vibrant lunch and dinner atmosphere in a spacious setting that balances modern sophistication with warm, welcoming service.
As a large-format restaurant, Arquet is designed to accommodate groups and individual diners alike, creating memorable experiences through excellent food and exceptional hospitality. The restaurant prides itself on innovation, sustainability, and community involvement, making it a standout destination for both locals and visitors seeking an authentic yet elevated California dining experience.
The role of General Manager at Arquet is a unique and exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional ready to lead a front-of-house team and help shape the restaurant's identity and culture from the ground up. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the General Manager plays a central role in the restaurant’s success by managing all aspects of front-of-house operations. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and mentoring staff to foster a positive and team-oriented work environment. The candidate will also oversee labor management, including payroll, tip distribution, and cash handling, ensuring compliance with local and state labor regulations.
In addition, the General Manager will be responsible for analyzing profit and loss statements and sales reports to meet budgeted sales and labor goals, maintaining front-of-house inventories, and managing reservation systems and guest communications. A key part of the role is overseeing daily floor service to ensure a seamless and welcoming guest experience. The General Manager will also support private dining and off-site events, adding to the restaurant's reputation as a versatile and customer-focused establishment.
This position requires a dynamic leader with a minimum of five years of front-of-house management experience in a high-profile restaurant setting. Strong knowledge of wine is essential, and sommelier certification will be considered a significant advantage. Candidates with experience in opening or launching restaurants will find this opportunity particularly rewarding, as they will have the chance to influence the launch and ongoing development of Arquet's new bar and dining programs.
Arquet offers a supportive and collaborative leadership team committed to high standards and clear expectations. The full benefits program includes bonus incentives and paid vacation, ensuring that the General Manager is well-supported in their role. This is a rare chance to lead and build a restaurant from day one in one of San Francisco’s most vibrant culinary destinations, fostering innovation, growth, and excellence in hospitality.
