Job Description

Marriott International is a leading global hospitality company renowned for delivering exceptional guest experiences through its diverse portfolio of hotel brands. Among these is the JW Marriott, a luxury brand with more than 100 stunning properties in gateway cities and unique resort locations around the world. JW Marriott is widely respected for its commitment to both guests and associates, fostering a workplace culture that values innovation, authenticity, and personal growth. This renowned brand emphasizes not only guest satisfaction but also prioritizes the well-being and development of its team members, encapsulating this philosophy as 'The JW Treatment'. As a member of the JW Marriott family, employees become part of an inclusive, global team where diverse backgrounds and talents are celebrated, making it a truly great place to grow a career in hospitality management.

The specific location for this role is the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, a prominent landmark situated at 780 Mission Street in the heart of San Francisco, California. This property offers a vibrant environment with a constant flow of guests and events, providing an exciting and dynamic workplace. The position is full-time and management level, with an annual salary range between $76,000 and $105,000, inclusive of eligibility for bonuses, highlighting the competitive compensation package offered by Marriott.

The role itself is centered on the management of the bar/lounge operations. This important position holds responsibility for overseeing daily shift operations, supervising staff, and ensuring that high standards of customer service are consistently achieved. A critical part of the role is promoting the lounge as an appealing destination, contributing to menu planning, managing liquor inventories and controls, and enforcing adherence to local, state, and federal liquor laws and regulations. The candidate will be deeply involved in both the operational and managerial aspects, including handling budgets, payroll progress reports, and managing controllable expenses to exceed budget goals.

Leadership is a fundamental aspect of this position. The manager is tasked with training staff on liquor control policies and procedures, supervising adequate staffing levels, and maintaining clear communication regarding events and expectations. This leadership extends to supporting staff to provide exceptional customer service, empowering employees to engage guests effectively, and promptly resolving any issues or complaints. Further, the individual will foster continuous improvement by gathering guest feedback and providing performance-related feedback to team members.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the role demands active involvement in human resources activities such as departmental orientation, new hire training, and participating in corrective action plans when necessary. The position often requires collaboration across different food and beverage or culinary outlets, reinforcing the cohesive teamwork culture integral to the Marriott brand.

Joining JW Marriott means entering a luxury hospitality environment characterized by camaraderie, professional development, and a dedication to excellence. The company is firmly committed to equal opportunity employment, encouraging applications from diverse candidates and adhering to all legal standards related to non-discrimination. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in one of San Francisco's premium hotel lounges, develop management skills within a prestigious brand, and be part of an award-winning global hospitality company that is devoted to inspiring both guests and associates alike.
