Job Description
The Pueblo of Sandia, a respected and vibrant tribal enterprise nestled in New Mexico, operates a diverse range of entertainment and hospitality venues including multiple bars, casino floor drink stations, and restaurants. As a community-driven organization, Pueblo of Sandia is dedicated to upholding the principles of integrity, fairness, collaboration, communication, and recognition in the workplace. Their mission is to provide an exceptional guest experience while fostering a positive and supportive work environment that attracts, retains, and develops qualified team members. This commitment to excellence not only benefits their patrons but also contributes to the ongoing success and growth of the Pueblo community today and into the future.
The Barback role at Pueblo of Sandia is crucial in supporting the fast-paced operations of bars and casino floor drink stations. This position involves assisting bartenders and beverage servers by restocking supplies, maintaining cleanliness, handling equipment checks, and ensuring smooth workflow throughout the shift. Essential tasks include managing bar inventory levels using the First In, First Out (FIFO) system, safely replacing empty kegs and soda bibs, and preparing garnishes following proper food safety guidelines. The Barback also plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness of bar equipment, glassware, counters, and the overall venue, which includes sweeping, mopping, and power washing as necessary. The role requires attention to responsible alcohol service, ensuring guests are properly checked for valid identification and monitoring alcohol consumption responsibly.
Team collaboration is emphasized, with the Barback attending pre-shift meetings to stay updated on daily specials, promotions, and service issues. Being an active participant in daily stand-up meetings and completing computer-assisted training in a timely manner are integral parts of the job. Additional responsibilities include serving food items as needed, assisting with coverage during breaks for bartenders and servers, and ensuring incident documentation and temperature logs are maintained accurately every shift.
Safety and sanitation are top priorities, with the Barback expected to uphold all health and safety protocols, including obtaining Food Handlers certification and the New Mexico Alcohol Server’s Certification prior to employment. The position demands physical resilience with the ability to lift up to 150 pounds and perform various physical activities such as balancing, climbing, crouching, and walking across different surfaces. Flexible availability is required as work schedules may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and overtime.
In essence, the Barback at Pueblo of Sandia is a vital team member ensuring that bar and casino operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely, delivering excellent guest service in a dynamic entertainment environment. The role offers a progression path from Barback to Bartender, Supervisor, and ultimately Manager, fostering career growth within the organization.
