The Bar Back role is critical in supporting the bartending team by managing essential supplies, ensuring that glassware and equipment are always clean, and providing timely assistance to bartenders. Responsibilities include restocking beverages, ice, glassware, and other supplies, as well as maintaining a clean and organized bar area. The Bar Back also supports the bar by handling food orders, clearing plates and silverware, and ensuring that all bar equipment functions properly and meets cleanliness standards.
Working in this role requires someone who is physically able to handle the demands of a high-energy workplace, including lifting and transporting heavy items, bending, and standing for long periods. Attention to detail is paramount, as employees will inspect all glassware for cleanliness and chips, as well as ensure that stock is rotated properly to maintain quality standards. The Bar Back acts as a liaison between guests and bartenders during busy times, acknowledging customers and communicating orders when necessary.
The position demands compliance with all company policies, as well as local and state liquor laws, ensuring a responsible and legal service environment. Flexibility is important, as work schedules may include weekends, holidays, and extended hours, adapting to the needs of the business. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience in a bar or similar environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Must be over 21 years old
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual labor
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Compliance with company and liquor laws
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Maintain pars of supplies at the bar by stocking ice, paper products, to go cups, glassware, china for menu items, roll ups
- Keep bartender informed of ordering needs to prevent shortages
- Acknowledge guests and relay orders to bartender if bartender is occupied
- Respond promptly to bartender requests for priorities and assistance
- Bring bar food from kitchen to the bar or place as directed
- Cut bar fruit daily as needed
- Check all glassware for chips, spots, prints, soap residue, lipstick, and cleanliness
- Assist in clearing used plates and silverware from the bar
- Rinse blenders and other bar equipment as used
- Rotate stock as needed
- Pour wines with bartender approval
- Maintain proper storage, organization, and cleanliness of bar items
- Understand and comply with all company and liquor laws
- Report to head bartender upon arrival, before breaks, and before leaving
- Complete assigned sidework before, during, and after shifts
- Assist other team members in restaurant, decks, and raw/sushi bar as needed
- Work flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on all bar equipment
- Inspect and evaluate physical condition of equipment for cleanliness
- Manage time and productivity according to business volume
- Report any necessary repairs to bar manager
- Transport glasses, ice, heavy bottles, kegs, and bar inventories
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Follow all company, city, and state liquor laws
- Complete all other duties assigned
