The Bar Back role at Oak View Group represents an exciting opportunity to be part of this vibrant industry. This position is essential in ensuring smooth bar operations during live events. The Bar Back supports bartenders by proactively restocking products such as N/A beverages, alcoholic drinks, and ice wells. They are responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the bar area, including sweeping, mopping, and ensuring all equipment is clean and operable before events begin. Additional duties include moving kegs, tapping them, drafting beer, pouring wine, and running supplies to bartenders to maintain an efficient service flow.
This role typically involves working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where attention to detail and excellent teamwork skills are critical. The Bar Back must also adhere strictly to all policies and procedures regarding alcohol dispensing, including monitoring for guests who may be visibly intoxicated and making bartenders aware of such situations. Punctuality and reliability are emphasized, with a strong expectation for excellent attendance and availability to work events as scheduled.
Compensation for this role is $8.00 per hour, with eligibility for tips, which can provide additional income. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items such as kegs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must comply with all state and federal regulations regarding alcohol service
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff and guest in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive enthusiastic and cooperative work environment
- Possess valid food handling certificate and alcohol service permit if required by state and federal regulations
- Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to product inventory
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume bar capacity is preferred
Job Duties
- Responsible for stocking products for the bar including N/A beverages, alcoholic beverages, and icing wells
- Sweeping and moping the bar
- Moving kegs in and out of keg coolers and tapping kegs
- Drafting beer and pouring wine for guest orders
- Running supplies for bartenders back up fruit, napkins, cups, utensils and stirrers
- Assures that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to start of event
- Maintain cleanliness of bar and surrounding areas utilizing sanitation procedures, this includes mopping floors, cleaning and stacking floor mats, emptying and relining trash cans and keeping closet areas clear of debris and clutter
- Responsible for recognizing guests that are visibly intoxicated and taking action to make bartenders aware of such individuals
- Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
- Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
