Job Description
The Ryder is a unique boutique destination located in the vibrant heart of one of the world’s most beloved cities. This inviting escape-meets-experience offers guests an atmosphere where relaxation and creativity come together seamlessly. Featuring amenities such as a pool, coffee bar, and tropical bar, The Ryder caters to independent, fun-loving, and creatively curious individuals seeking a memorable stay or visit. With a focus on creating exceptional experiences, The Ryder emphasizes quality, attention to detail, and a personalized approach in every aspect of its service offering.
As part of the prestigious Makeready collection, The Ryder is committed to providing not only a distinctive guest experience but also an enriching workplace environment for its team members. This position is for a Bar Back, an essential role often described as the 'silent hero' behind every perfect drink served. A Bar Back’s job is to ensure that the bar operates efficiently and smoothly by maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness, organization, and inventory readiness. The success of a bartender’s craft—whether it’s a glass of Cabernet or a craft cocktail—depends heavily on the support provided by the Bar Back, making this role vital in delivering memorable customer experiences.
The Bar Back at The Ryder is an individual who thrives on attention to detail and proactive work ethics. Their responsibilities include rigorous monitoring and stocking of critical bar components such as ice, juices, syrups, mixers, spirits, glassware, and overall bar top cleanliness. Ensuring that nothing runs out during the shift requires anticipation and foresight, qualities highly valued in this position. The Bar Back must also have a solid understanding of bar equipment and be capable of troubleshooting common issues including low CO2 in tap lines, dishwasher cycle problems, and changing beer keys. Maintaining cleanliness is an all-encompassing task, covering guest areas at the bar top, bar back stock areas, waste bins, and floors.
Knowledge of the beverage menu and alignment with the brand’s vision and quality standards are also key components of the role. The Ryder values candidates who bring previous bar experience or who possess a proactive, detailed demeanor suited to fast-paced and dynamic hospitality environments. This role not only demands technical skills but also a passion for hospitality and teamwork.
The workplace culture at The Ryder, supported by Makeready LLC, revolves around values and guiding principles that promote cooperation, respect, and authenticity. Employees are encouraged to bring their independent spirit while contributing to a collective environment that respects diversity and inclusion. The company is committed to equal opportunity employment and prohibits discrimination based on race, color, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, age, veteran status, or any other protected category. This commitment ensures that success is measured based on individual qualifications, experience, and performance alone.
Part-time team members at The Ryder enjoy a variety of benefits designed to support their health, happiness, and well-being. These include access to free TeleDoc visits, discounted dental, hearing, and vision benefits, assistance with medical equipment such as diabetic supplies, and a broad range of ancillary benefits. The emphasis on comprehensive care and a supportive work environment makes this an attractive opportunity for those looking to join a reputable hospitality establishment with strong values and growth potential. Overall, a Bar Back position at The Ryder represents a significant step for individuals passionate about hospitality, looking to contribute to a boutique yet vibrant setting, and grow in their professional journey within the industry.
