Job Description

The Ryder is a unique boutique oasis nestled in the heart of one of the world's most beloved cities. This welcoming escape blends a vibrant experience with luxury amenities including a pool, coffee bar, and tropical bar. Designed for the independent, fun-loving, and creatively curious spirits, The Ryder offers an environment that merges relaxation with a sense of adventure and discovery. Guests are attracted not only by the stylish ambiance but also by the dedication to detail and quality that defines every aspect of their visit. The establishment prides itself on creating memorable experiences through impeccable service and a focus on every element that makes a stay exceptional, from delicious beverages to clean and inviting spaces.

As a part of The Ryder's dynamic team, the Bar Back plays a vital yet often unrecognized role, serving as the silent hero behind the scenes who ensures the bar operates flawlessly. This role is crucial as it supports bartenders by maintaining a well-stocked, clean, and organized bar environment. The Bar Back understands that behind every glass of cabernet or craft cocktail is a story of precision and care that transforms a simple drink into a memorable experience. From spotless glassware and fresh ingredients to having bottles ready and at hand, everything must be meticulously managed to uphold The Ryder's high standards. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced settings, possess a keen eye for detail, and enjoy working collaboratively with the rest of the bar team.

The Bar Back’s responsibilities extend beyond simple support; they involve anticipating needs before they arise, managing bar equipment, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the bar area. Being proactive and attentive to operational details like ice levels, juice, syrups, mixers, spirits, glass cleanliness, and bar top tidiness is essential. Familiarity with bar equipment troubleshooting, such as handling low CO2 in tap lines, dishwasher functions, and replacing beer keys, is necessary to ensure uninterrupted service. Furthermore, the Bar Back must maintain a thorough knowledge of the menu and beverage offerings, as well as the brand's vision and quality standards, promoting a consistent guest experience.

The Ryder is proud to be part of the Makeready collection, a network known for fostering an inclusive and thoughtful workplace culture. Eligible team members have access to an array of benefits such as accommodating paid time off options, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, maternity and paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care and 401(k) programs, student loan repayment assistance, and numerous other ancillary benefits. The company’s commitment to its employees extends beyond just benefits, emphasizing health, happiness, and overall well-being as foundational priorities.

Makeready LLC and its affiliated entities promote a work environment where everyone can be their authentic selves and achieve success based on merit. The company upholds principles of equality and inclusion, ensuring no discrimination occurs on any basis including race, color, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or veteran status. The Ryder, along with the broader Makeready community, strives to build a supportive, fair, and empowering workplace, attracting team members who share these values and a passion for excellence in hospitality.
