Job Description

Located on the historic and vibrant riverfront of Savannah, The Alida Hotel stands as a beacon of modern sophistication blended seamlessly with timeless Southern charm. Inspired by Alida Harper Fowlkes, a celebrated entrepreneur who epitomized the spirit of self-made artisans in Savannah, The Alida embodies the essence of contemporary Southern hospitality. This 173-room luxury hotel offers guests an immersive experience that celebrates the culture, warmth, and elegance unique to Savannah. From its meticulously crafted interiors to its high-end dining and beverage offerings, The Alida provides not just accommodation but a lifestyle defined by quality and attention to detail.

The role of Bar Back at The Alida is crucial in maintaining the high standards for which the hotel is known. This position is ideal for those who understand that the true magic behind every exceptional cocktail and fine wine lies in the precision and care managed behind the scenes. As the silent hero of the bar, the Bar Back ensures that everything runs smoothly and efficiently by stocking glassware, ingredients, and spirits, and by keeping the bar area immaculate. This role demands a strong attention to detail, proactive stock management, and a good working knowledge of bar equipment and maintenance. The Bar Back works closely with bartenders to maintain seamless service and an inviting atmosphere for guests.

In this role, employees are expected to be forward-thinking and hands-on, constantly monitoring critical supplies such as ice, juice, syrups, mixers, spirits, and glassware to ensure nothing interrupts service. The Bar Back also takes responsibility for troubleshooting issues such as low CO2 in tap lines and managing dishwasher cycles and beer keys, contributing to a smooth operational flow. Beyond these technical duties, maintaining a pristine environment from the bar top to waste bins and floors is essential, contributing to the overall guest experience.

The Alida Hotel encourages candidates with prior bar experience, a proactive mindset, and meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will not only be a hardworking individual but also one who appreciates brand vision and quality standards. The hotel's culture thrives on guided principles that promote teamwork and genuine hospitality, with an emphasis on being one’s true independent self in an inclusive and diverse workplace.

In addition to a dynamic work setting, The Alida offers competitive benefits as part of the Makeready collection. Eligible team members enjoy accommodating paid time off and PTO exchange, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care and 401k plans, student loan repayment programs, and other ancillary benefits. The hotel is committed to the health, happiness, and well-being of its staff, creating an environment where everyone can succeed regardless of race, gender, disability, or any other protected status. This role represents an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals looking to advance their careers in hospitality within one of Savannah's most prestigious hotels.
