The role of Beacon Bar Back at Luminary Hotel & Co. is a vital support position within the dynamic food and beverage team. This position is hourly and non-exempt, reporting directly to the Beacon General Manager, Beacon Assistant Manager, and the Food and Beverage Supervisor. The Beacon Bar Back is responsible for ensuring that the bar operates smoothly and efficiently by supporting bartenders and maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area. Key duties include preparing mixes and garnishes, rotating liquor, wine, and beer stock properly, and maintaining a sanitary environment throughout the shift. Beyond these operational responsibilities, the role also requires interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner, providing accurate information regarding menu items, pricing, and allergenic contents. The Bar Back supports the overall guest experience by ensuring timely service and helping to resolve any concerns or complaints with a positive attitude. Additionally, the position involves physical tasks such as moving furniture, managing trash, and assisting with loading and unloading supplies. This role requires a high level of customer service skill and physical stamina, including the ability to lift 30 pounds or more and the capacity to work long hours as needed. The successful candidate will be versed in hospitality operations, familiar with POS systems, and knowledgeable about beer, spirits, sanitation, safety, and responsible alcohol service. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or higher
- Previous hospitality experience required
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience
- Experience with POS systems
- Familiarity with beer and spirits
- Proper lifting techniques

- Full service restaurant operations
Job Duties
- Provide service to bartenders in a timely manner
- Prepare all mixes and garnishes
- Ensure proper rotation of all liquor, beer, wine and consumable items
- Keep bar top clean and free of dirty glasses, trash, etc. throughout shift
- Keep back bar clean and organized
- Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
- Clean all spills immediately and place all trash in proper receptacles
- Sweep and mop as needed
- Empty trash as necessary
- Assist with loading/unloading of miscellaneous equipment, such as boxes, food and beverage product
- Maintain opening/closing liquor, beer, wine and consumables par
- Ensure all stocking is complete, requisitions are filled out and any shortage of stock is reported
- Provide guests with accurate and thorough information regarding menu items, pricing, and allergen information
- Light food running when applicable, ability to carry plates that may be warm or hot
- Recognize and cultivate regular guests and repeat business
- Respond to guest concerns/complaints and correct errors or resolve complaints while maintaining a positive attitude escalating to management when necessary
- Monitor potentially intoxicated and/or disruptive guests and promptly bring to a manager's attention
- Inform management of any complaint, comments or incident
- Ensure nightly/weekly and opening/running/closing duties are completed
- Record and report any equipment failure and/or safety hazards to management immediately
- Move furniture as directed by management, including but not limited to: tables, chairs, bar stools, banquettes, bar tables, boxes, and equipment
- Comply with all safety and health department procedures and all state and federal liquor laws
- Maintain company safety and sanitation standards
- Assists and/or completes additional tasks as assigned by management
