The Bar Back role at Southwest University Ballpark supports daily bar operations, essential for smooth event-based service, ensuring that liquor, beer, wine, and all necessary beverage and food items are adequately stocked and managed throughout shifts. This position involves receiving deliveries, replenishing bar stock, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar areas, assisting bartenders when needed, and helping with opening and closing tasks. It requires physical effort such as lifting up to 25 pounds and the ability to work efficiently behind a busy bar during sporting and entertainment events. The role also demands maintaining beer draft lines and ensuring beer taps are functioning properly, confirming the Bar Back is a vital part of the beverage service team.

Job Duties

  • Receives all liquor, beer and wine from storeroom daily and as needed
  • replenishes liquor, beer and wine at the bar throughout the shift
  • retrieves all needed food items from kitchen and delivers to bar area
  • retrieves beverage items and garnishes from storerooms and delivers to bar area
  • retrieves kegs and delivers to bar area and connects to beer draft line
  • sets up bottles on bar with top shelf liquor on back shelf
  • ensures beer taps are working properly
  • places and stocks bar snacks and napkins throughout shift
  • assists in opening and closing side work as assigned
  • buses tables in bar area
  • maintains cleanliness and tidiness of bar and lounge areas
  • washes work tables, walls, refrigerators and floors under equipment
  • sweeps and mops service areas including floor mats
  • removes rubbish from all receptacles
  • prepares and serves beverages as needed to assist bartender
  • performs other duties as assigned
