The Bar Assistant (Barback) role at SUZU is a pivotal position within the beverage service team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations behind the scenes. This full-time or part-time non-exempt role supports bartenders by maintaining a fully stocked, clean, and service-ready bar during all hours of operation. The Bar Assistant is responsible for preparing garnishes, juices, syrups, and mixers; stocking liquor, beer, wine, glassware, and ice; and upholding meticulous cleanliness standards throughout the bar and service stations. This position requires a hardworking individual who anticipates needs, works efficiently under pressure, and demonstrates eagerness to learn about beverage program fundamentals and Japanese hospitality standards. Job Duties

  • Prepare garnishes, juices, syrups, and mixers to bar program standards
  • stock liquor, beer, wine, glassware, ice, and supplies before and during service
  • ensure the bar is fully set and service-ready at all times
  • maintain immaculate cleanliness of the bar, wells, coolers, and service stations
  • wash, polish, and organize glassware and bar tools to fine-dining standards
  • keep floors, mats, and walkways clean, dry, and unobstructed
  • support bartenders by anticipating needs and replenishing supplies in real time
  • assist with running drinks and clearing glassware as needed
  • help maintain pacing and flow at the bar during peak service
  • rotate stock and monitor par levels, communicating low inventory to the bar supervisor
  • transport and store deliveries safely and correctly
  • help maintain accurate, organized storage areas
  • follow all sanitation, hygiene, and safety protocols
  • handle glassware, equipment, and alcohol responsibly and professionally
  • maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor at all times
