Known for its commitment to excellence in hospitality, The Read House prides itself on delivering exceptional service and a memorable experience in every aspect of its operations, from accommodations to dining and entertainment. The hotel’s Bar & Billiards Room is a standout feature, offering a refined atmosphere where guests can enjoy expertly crafted cocktails and unwind in style. This environment reflects the rich heritage of The Read House while embracing contemporary trends in hospitality, creating a vibrant setting that honors tradition and welcomes innovation.
We are currently seeking a skilled Bartender to join our team in this historic venue. The ideal candidate will have a passion for classic cocktails and a desire to work in an elegant, yet lively atmosphere. As a Bartender at The Read House, you will play a crucial role in shaping the guest experience by mixing, pouring, and garnishing a wide variety of drinks, including classic and modern cocktails, beer, and wine. Your attention to detail and dedication to exceptional service will delight guests and enhance their visit to our Bar & Billiards Room. The role requires maintaining a clean, organized bar area, managing point-of-sale entries, and assisting with inventory counts to ensure smooth service. Additionally, you will support the broader team by completing side work, such as polishing silverware and assisting with lounge service.
The position demands flexibility for various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a particular emphasis on availability for Friday and Saturday evenings. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask effectively, and possess strong communication and organizational skills. Prior bartending experience of one to three years is preferred, along with proficiency in classic and modern cocktail recipes and a solid understanding of beer and wine varieties. A valid TABC Server Permit or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire is required. Physical stamina is necessary as bartenders must be able to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift heavy items up to 50 pounds.
The Read House offers a vibrant work environment that values passion, individuality, and fun. We provide opportunities for career growth and internal advancement along with comprehensive employee benefits. These include tuition reimbursement, affordable medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and a traditional and Roth 401(k) retirement plan with employer match. Additional perks include flexible pay options, employee referral bonuses, and various discounts at our hotels and restaurants. By joining The Read House team, you become part of a historic legacy recognized for exceptional hospitality and a welcoming workplace culture, proudly honored as Chattanooga's Best of the Best Hospitality Employer for 2025.
