Job Description

Mandarin Oriental New York is a prestigious luxury hotel renowned for its exquisite blend of modern design and stylish oriental flair. Situated in the heart of Manhattan, this award-winning establishment offers 244 elegant guestrooms and suites with breathtaking views of Central Park and the iconic New York skyline. As a distinguished member of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, the property exemplifies legendary service inspired by Asian heritage, combined with cutting-edge luxury experiences. The hotel features a range of top-tier amenities, including the MO Lounge, all-day dining venues overlooking Central Park, a 14,500 square-foot Five-Star spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center with a 75-foot lap pool, and premium meeting and event spaces such as a pillar-less ballroom with panoramic windows.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Bar/Beverage Manager to join our elite Food and Beverage team at Mandarin Oriental New York. This pivotal role demands an individual with deep knowledge and passion for craft beverages who thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment that values integrity, respect, and responsibility. The Bar/Beverage Manager is entrusted with the overall daily operation and strategic vision of the bar, ensuring an exceptional dining environment and guest experience that aligns with our Mission Statement and legendary quality standards.

The successful candidate will lead and support a professional team of bartenders and servers, overseeing training, evaluations, scheduling, and maintaining impeccable service standards. Administrative responsibilities including payroll management, inventory control, and ordering supplies are integral to the role. The manager also ensures the bar’s cleanliness, appropriate staffing levels, and constant development of the team through continuous training programs. Additionally, this leadership position involves coordinating food and beverage services for special events, managing guest relations, and maintaining up-to-date beverage offerings.

Beyond day-to-day operations, the Bar/Beverage Manager plays a critical role in budget development, forecasting, and pacing reports, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, liquor laws, and company policies. The role demands excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organizational acumen, and the ability to operate under pressure while maintaining a spirited and guest-focused atmosphere. Job Requirements

  • minimum three years experience in similar position preferably in luxury environment
  • proficiency in reading writing and oral english

Job Duties

  • support companys philosophy and culture through daily use of pillars of legendary quality experiences to ensure guest satisfaction and mission achievement
  • maintain and update beverage offerings at bar and lounge
  • provide leadership and support for bartenders and servers
  • train evaluate and schedule bartenders and servers
  • perform administrative duties including scheduling payroll inventory and ordering
  • supervise maintenance and cleanliness of bar
  • manage proper staffing and supplies levels
  • conduct daily pre-shift communications and chair monthly departmental meetings
  • ensure bar service standards and guest satisfaction by visiting guest tables
  • manage coach and counsel colleagues including disciplinary procedures
  • liaise with guest relations and front office for guest information
  • coordinate service aspects including food and beverage requirements event timing special requests and billing
  • report suspicious activities and unsafe conditions
  • follow laws and guidelines for beverage service
  • provide guidance for emergency situations
  • utilize reservation and POS systems
  • ensure accuracy and presentation of menus
  • assist with check reconciliation and ensure honest settlements
  • develop budget pace report and forecast
  • monitor payroll and approve departmental staff actions
  • attend food and beverage meetings
  • update menus and revise department standards and procedures
