The position of Banquet Server at JW Marriott Chicago is a part-time, non-management role within their Food and Beverage & Culinary team. This role is pivotal in ensuring guests receive outstanding banquet services. The hourly pay ranges from $9.47 to $12.62 and includes eligibility for tips as well as service charge compensation, with training and paid time off at a rate of $20.45 per hour. The Banquet Server is responsible for preparing food and beverage stations as outlined in the Banquet Event Order, including setups for coffee breaks, carts, buffets, dessert tables, and cordial stations. The server must manage food presentation and replenishment to maintain freshness and consistency throughout the event, accommodate special dietary requests, allergies, and special meal requirements by communicating promptly with the kitchen, and ensure that service areas uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards.
The role also involves clearing dishes promptly and efficiently, bussing tables, monitoring and maintaining adequate supplies of tableware, and assisting guests courteously, including those with disabilities. Physical demands include the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance, as well as the ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended durations during work shifts. Job Duties
- Prepare coffee breaks, carts, and stations with appropriate food and beverages as stated in Banquet Event Order
- Prepare tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert tables/carts and cordial carts
- Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
- Ensure courses are cleared and tables are properly crumbed
- Respond to and try to fulfill special banquet event arrangements
- Replenish buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness
- Monitor tableware to ensure it is presentable to guests
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned stations and service areas
- Buss tables by removing and separating tableware, plateware, glassware, and flatware
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
- Support team to reach common goals
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and moving objects up to 50 pounds
