Job Description
W Philadelphia is a part of the globally renowned W Hotels brand, under the Marriott International portfolio. W Hotels is known for its innovative approach to luxury hospitality, focusing on igniting curiosity and expanding worlds for its guests. Located at 1439 Chestnut St in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this establishment offers a dynamic environment where creativity and unique experiences are highly valued. The hotel is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that all associates feel celebrated and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. This commitment to a supportive and inclusive workplace culture makes W Philadelphia an exceptional place to build a career in the hospitality industry.
The Event Support Expert position at W Philadelphia is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, service-oriented environments. Unlike typical support roles that focus solely on physical tasks such as setting up tables and chairs for events, this role emphasizes creating memorable and unique atmospheres for every banquet or meeting. The Event Support Expert plays a critical role in ensuring that events run smoothly by taking initiative and delivering a broad range of services. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down event materials, transporting supplies, stocking bars and action stations, and assisting with any other event-related tasks. This hands-on role requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods and to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and heavier items with help.
Success in this role is built on several key pillars: maintaining a safe workplace, adhering to company policies and procedures, upholding quality standards, and presenting a professional demeanor through uniform, personal appearance, and communication. The position offers part-time hours and falls under non-management employment status. While the role does not require supervisory experience, it does favor candidates with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Although prior experience in a similar position is beneficial, less than one year of related work experience is acceptable, making this role well-suited for those looking to start or advance a career in food and beverage event support services.
Working at W Philadelphia means joining a forward-thinking team that prides itself on pioneering new norms in luxury hospitality. The company fosters a culture described as Whatever/Whenever, reflecting a commitment to meeting guests' needs with flexibility and enthusiasm. This culture encourages associates to be original, innovative, and future-focused while supporting one another in delivering exceptional service. By becoming part of this global brand, associates gain access to extensive career development opportunities and the chance to work with diverse teams dedicated to exceptional guest experiences. This role is ideal for individuals who are energetic, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to unforgettable event experiences in a luxury hotel setting.
