This portfolio encompasses over 100 exquisite properties situated in prime gateway cities and unique resort destinations worldwide. JW Marriott prides itself on a culture that prioritizes its associates, promoting a supportive and inclusive work environment where employees are valued and their well-being is a top priority. Through a blend of innovation, confidence, and genuine hospitality, JW Marriott continues to uphold the legacy of its founder, J. Willard Marriott, fostering a workplace of camaraderie and professional growth.
The hotel offers a unique luxury experience that is enriched not only by its top-tier guest services but also by the opportunities it creates for employee development and recognition. JW Marriott encourages associates to pursue their passions in a holistic environment that supports professional training and personal wellness. The philosophy of "The JW Treatment" ensures that taking care of associates translates into exceptional guest experiences. Joining the JW Marriott means joining a global community dedicated to excellence in hospitality and employee satisfaction.
The role offered is a full-time, non-management position within the food and beverage and culinary category at JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America. The position primarily involves evening shift work and includes an hourly wage ranging from $16.75 to $18.41, with the added benefit of tip eligibility. This role is essential to the seamless closing operations of banquet and function events, encompassing a variety of responsibilities from cleaning and breakdown to restocking and maintenance.
Key duties in this role include the final cleanup and breakdown of function rooms, ensuring that all equipment is cleaned, organized, and returned to its proper place. The role involves setting up, stocking, and maintaining work areas to meet strict standards of cleanliness, organization, and sanitation. The associate is responsible for managing linens, which includes transporting dirty linens to the appropriate cleaning areas, separating napkins from tablecloths, and restocking linen shelves with fresh linens. Throughout the shift, maintaining the cleanliness of work areas through clean-as-you-go procedures is critical.
The role demands interacting professionally with guests and staff, welcoming guests warmly, anticipating and meeting their service needs, and contributing to a team-oriented environment to achieve shared goals. Safety and security adherence is essential, including reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries, and completing necessary safety training and certifications.
Physically, the position requires the capability to perform various manual tasks, such as lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier items with assistance, standing or walking for extended periods, and navigating various terrains including stairs and slippery surfaces. Flexibility in performing other reasonable job duties as requested is also expected.
Preferred qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with no prior related work or supervisory experience required, making it an accessible opportunity for individuals seeking entry into the hospitality industry. The role provides a comprehensive benefits package including health care, retirement plans, paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, disability coverage, and wellness benefits, subject to eligibility and other conditions.
Working at JW Marriott Minneapolis Mall of America means being part of a dynamic team where professional growth, inclusivity, and providing wonderful hospitality are foundational. The hotel’s commitment to equality and non-discrimination ensures a welcoming workplace for all associates, encouraging diversity and the sharing of unique experiences and talents. For those passionate about hospitality and looking to advance their career in a luxury environment, this position offers a meaningful start with Marriott International's respected brand portfolio.
