The role of the Banquet and Catering Event Manager at Kellogg Center is a critical leadership position focused on orchestrating and delivering superior event experiences across multiple MSU campus venues, including prominent athletic sites such as the Breslin Student Events Center and Munn Ice Arena. This full-time position entails comprehensive responsibility for managing all facets of event planning and execution. The manager collaborates closely with culinary teams, service staff, audiovisual technicians, and external vendors to ensure each event adheres to the highest standards from conception through completion.

The manager's duties include client consultation to understand event requirements, careful coordination of logistics such as room setups and vendor arrangements, and proactive management of food and beverage service. There is a significant focus on ensuring seamless operations by scheduling, sourcing necessary elements, training, and supervising team members while maintaining strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation protocols. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Manage and oversee all food service and event setup activities to ensure high-quality service and exceptional guest experiences
  • Coordinate room setups, vendor logistics, and food service timing for seamless event execution
  • Serve food and beverages in accordance with established hotel service standards
  • Set up event spaces, including place settings, décor, buffet lines, linens, tables, and chairs
  • Clean and maintain all work areas, including back hallways, carts, storage closets, and event spaces
  • Instruct and assist event staff with proper meal service, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage service, and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate closely with the kitchen to ensure accurate event details, proper timing, and smooth service flow
