The Banquet Supervisor role at Sodexo involves comprehensive oversight and coordination of banquet and catered events at the University of Cincinnati Main Campus. Acting as the primary on-site leadership figure above Banquet Captains, this role supervises staff including Banquet Captains and Banquet Servers to ensure seamless event execution according to Banquet Event Orders, service standards, and client specifications. Responsibilities include managing operational readiness, staffing, service delivery, and resolution of issues in real time during events. The Banquet Supervisor oversees a range of functions from small meetings to large-scale events with varying service styles such as receptions, buffets, plated meals, and multi-course dinners. The role demands active participation in event preparation, setup, service, breakdown, and cleanup with a strong emphasis on safety, sanitation, staffing efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Flexibility in workdays and shifts is expected to meet the demands of event schedules, with open availability preferred. This position offers valuable leadership experience in a fast-paced, client-focused hospitality environment, ideal for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional service and team coordination in event management.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2-4 years banquet, catering, or food and beverage service experience
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in banquet or event operations required
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
  • Working knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems and event service processes
  • TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) or TEAM (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management) alcohol training or equivalent
  • Food handler certification may be required based on location

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience

  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in banquet or event operations
  • Working knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems

Job Duties

  • Monitor event setup, service execution, and breakdown to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency
  • Provide leadership and oversight to banquet staff including Banquet Captains and Servers
  • Ensure compliance with Banquet Event Orders and client expectations
  • Manage operational readiness and coordinate staffing for events
  • Resolve issues promptly during events to maintain service standards
