The Indiana Convention Center, a significant venue managed within Sodexo's extensive portfolio, is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Banquet Supervisor. This is a full-time role offering a competitive wage ranging between $22 and $25 per hour. The working schedule involves varying shifts and days with open availability preferred, allowing flexibility but also demanding reliable presence during scheduled hours. The Banquet Supervisor will serve as a vital leadership presence on-site, overseeing banquet and catered event operations to ensure all events meet the high standards expected by Sodexo and its clients.
As a Banquet Supervisor, the individual will hold responsibility above the Banquet Captain level, providing supervision and coordination among event teams. This role requires overseeing Banquet Captains and Banquet Servers to guarantee that every detail of an event conforms to the predefined Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), service standards, and client expectations. The role demands a strong emphasis on operational readiness, effective staffing, flawless service execution, and prompt resolution of issues that might arise during events. Events managed under this role will vary widely—from small meetings to large functions hosting hundreds of guests—covering various service styles including receptions, buffets, plated meals, and multi-course menus.
The Banquet Supervisor is instrumental in ensuring the entire event lifecycle runs smoothly, including preparation, setup, service, breakdown, and cleanup. Safety and sanitation protocols are paramount, with adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies required to maintain an excellent guest experience. The position also involves adaptability to account-specific duties based on differing business needs or client requests, highlighting the dynamic and versatile nature of the job. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2-4 years of banquet, catering, or food and beverage service experience
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in banquet or event operations
- Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol based on local and state regulations
- Working knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems and event service processes
- TIPS or TEAM alcohol training or equivalent
- Food handler certification may be required based on location
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Monitor event setup, service execution, and breakdown to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency
- Supervise Banquet Captains and Servers during events to ensure adherence to Banquet Event Orders and client expectations
- Coordinate staffing and operational readiness for each event
- Resolve on-site issues promptly to maintain smooth service flow
- Support preparation, setup, service, breakdown, and cleanup activities while enforcing safety and sanitation standards
- Ensure compliance with food handling and alcohol service regulations
- Adapt to varied event sizes and service styles including receptions, buffets, plated meals, and multi-course service
