The Banquet Supervisor position within Choice Hotels involves supervising and assisting with the setup and breakdown of meetings, conventions, and banquets in accordance with event orders and specific customer requirements. This role is essential in ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction by expertly managing event logistics and coordinating with multiple departments such as sales, food and beverage, and maintenance. Responsibilities include managing professional and courteous interactions with customers to foster repeat business, maintaining banquet and event order documentation, and overseeing the cleanliness, setup, and storage of banquet furniture and equipment. The Banquet Supervisor is also responsible for maintaining banquet department equipment, including audio-visual and sound systems, ensuring proper use and inventory management. Furthermore, this role requires the training and orientation of new employees, prioritizing work assignments, and providing feedback on performance to support staff development. The Banquet Supervisor must uphold Choice’s standards for genuine hospitality, exceeding guest expectations, resolving issues empathetically, and ensuring a seamless service experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment that operates continuously. This position requires strong organization skills, excellent verbal communication, and physical ability to manage various tasks including lifting, setting up, and maneuvering heavy equipment, with an emphasis on safety and operational excellence. Job Requirements

  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds constantly up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • ability to maneuver up to 150 pounds occasionally for short periods
  • able to set up and take down tables chairs stages and other banquet meeting fixtures
  • ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 200 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in banquet or event supervision preferred
  • strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • excellent verbal communication abilities
  • ability to read and interpret detailed banquet and event orders
  • proficiency in handling banquet AV and sound equipment
  • ability to train and lead a team effectively
  • customer service orientation with ability to resolve guest issues promptly

Job Duties

  • supervise and assist in setup and breakdown of meetings conventions and banquets based on event orders and customer needs
  • maximize customer satisfaction by executing detailed instructions for assigned events
  • establish professional and courteous rapport with customers to encourage repeat business
  • coordinate servicing of special customer requirements through other departments and external sources
  • monitor and maintain customer comfort by managing environmental factors such as lighting temperature maintenance and sanitation
  • participate in the upkeep and accuracy of the Banquet and Event Order (BEO) book
  • attend BEO meetings with sales banquet and food and beverage teams to ensure comprehensive understanding of upcoming events
