The position of Server/Bartender Trainer at Kirkwood's Center for Hospitality Excellence is an exciting and dynamic role within the hospitality sector. It is designed to support the banquet department by providing exceptional food and beverage service tailored to various events and customer needs. This unique role offers the opportunity to work flexibly as either a server or bartender depending on business demands and event specifics. Additionally, the role carries a significant training component, where the employee is responsible for supervising and enhancing the learning experiences of students and hourly employees across The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, The Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts, and The Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education.

The Server/Bartender Trainer plays an essential part in maintaining the high standards Kirkwood Community College expects. This includes delivering prompt, courteous, and efficient service, supporting event setups, managing bar operations in line with responsible alcohol service principles, and ensuring safety and cleanliness in the work environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 16 years old to serve
  • Must be 18 years or older to bartend
  • Customer service skills and knowledge are essential
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, courteous and efficient food and beverage service for the banquet department
  • Set up for banquet events, carry trays, serve guests and clean up events
  • Provide consistently high standard of service in all areas of service and meal functions related to group
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment
  • Effectively handle customer concerns
  • Participate in department and pre-shift meetings
  • Prepare mixed drinks as ordered, and collect payment and give change to guests at banquet bar's
