The On-Call Banquet Staff position at Hyatt Regency Boston offers a flexible and vital role in supporting the seamless execution of high-quality banquet events. This role is unique in that it involves rotating responsibilities among serving as a Banquet Server, Bartender, or Barback in accordance with the needs of each specific event and the rotation of the day’s schedule. The on-call nature of the position offers employees the flexibility to manage their schedules while staying actively engaged by responding to scheduling requests at least once per month.
The role demands meticulous attention to detail, an understanding of proper service etiquette, and the physical stamina to handle the demands of banquet service, including standing and lifting heavy items. Staff members are entrusted with responsibilities such as setting up tables with silverware, plateware, and glassware; maintaining the cleanliness and organization of banquet kitchen areas; polishing glassware to exacting standards; and ensuring the proper presentation of food and beverages. A key part of this job is maintaining excellent communication with the Banquet Management team to provide weekly updates on availability, ensuring efficient scheduling and event coverage.

Job Requirements

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Previous experience in banquets, bartending, or hospitality or have attended the BEST Training Program
- Ability to work in a noisy and fast-paced environment
- Must respond to scheduling requests at least once per month to remain active

Job Duties
- Set up silverware, plateware, and glassware on assigned tables for each banquet function
- Retain complete knowledge of all food and beverage menu items including any potential allergens
- Maintain banquet kitchen areas, including shelving and storage, in a clean and organized manner
- Place appropriate table and buffet décor as outlined in banquet event orders
- Polish all china, glassware, and silverware to hotel standards
- Clear tables efficiently and in accordance with service expectations
- Set up and break down all needed equipment and supplies for your assigned station for the event
- Refill various service implements and banquet supplies at the end of every function
- Handle all furniture, fixtures, and equipment with care to minimize breakage and maintain a high standard of presentation
- Execute proper steps of service for all banquet events, ensuring quality service, food presentation, and guest satisfaction
- Provide responsive and friendly service to guests and colleagues throughout all assigned roles
