The Edgewater is Madison's premier luxury 4-diamond resort located on the picturesque shores of Lake Mendota. The Banquet Server at The Edgewater plays a vital role in maintaining the resort’s reputation for outstanding guest experiences. This position is responsible for exceeding guest expectations in food and beverage services by providing the highest level of professional and consistent service. Working closely with an integrated team composed of bartenders, hosts, food runners, culinary experts, and management, the Banquet Server ensures the smooth and timely setup of stations and work areas, as well as the efficient serving of food and beverages throughout the event or meal. This role demands a strong teamwork mindset and a proactive approach to support colleagues and enhance operational flow.
Banquet Servers at The Edgewater must adhere to strict grooming and uniform standards and be punctual for their shifts. They are expected to communicate effectively with management and team members, promptly reporting any guest complaints or issues to the Banquet Captain. A thorough understanding of the event menus, food and beverage preparation, and the ability to recommend and upsell items are crucial aspects of the job. The role also involves operating cashier systems, such as Micros, handling payment methods accurately, and upholding legal requirements for alcohol service. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness, restocking equipment, and resetting tables are key responsibilities. Banquet Servers act as ambassadors for The Edgewater, consistently delivering warm, friendly, and professional hospitality to all guests, aiming to exceed expectations with every interaction.

Continuous learning is encouraged through attendance at training sessions focused on menu updates, service standards, health and safety policies, and overall hotel practices. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in food and beverage service or hospitality
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must comply with local laws for alcohol service and sales
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
Job Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities
- Basic knowledge of fine dining and good knowledge of wines/beverages
- Interact with all levels of customers and hotel management
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints
- Combined 2+ years previous hotel and/or food and beverage service preferred
Job Duties
- Work professionally and represent Wisconsin Bride magazine’s number 1 location for weddings in the State at Madison’s only Luxury 4-diamond resort property
- Report for duty punctually, in full uniform according to appearance and grooming standards
- Report to the management team before starting and ending shifts and attend all pre or post event meeting as required by management
- Expediently communicate any challenges, guest complaints or requests to the Banquet Captain
- Have complete knowledge of the events Restaurant's food and beverage preparation
- Ability to sell alcohol and food items
- Able to interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner
- Understanding of all cashiering procedures and the handling of all payment methods, including the use of Micros
- Maintain specific side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant
- Ability to clear, reset tables and/or restock or maintain stations and equipment including coffee machine, hot box, soda dispenser, bain-maries, beer taps and other related set ups
- Check identification of guests to ensure guests are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages, refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age
- Treat all guests to ensure their complete satisfaction and always strive to exceed guests' expectations
- Promote and maintain a positive working relationship at all times with all the Colleagues of The Edgewater
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and warm hospitality to all guests
- Attend all required training sessions and be aware of any changes to menus, hotel and departmental policies and procedures, service standards as well as business trends and requirements
- Guide guests through menu, making suggestions and recommendations in the guests’ interest
- Lead and guide the Server Assistants or temp employees ensuring efficient and effective teamwork
- Communicate all service requirements to the respective team members in an efficient and effective way
- Ensure work areas and stations are kept clean and tidy at all times
- Assist guests with any inquiries or requests in a pleasant, helpful manner
- Actively participate in and follow all health and safety policies and procedures set out for The Edgewater
- Be familiar with various types of services plated, buffet, working lunches etc.
- Promptly remove dishes as guests complete their meal during any meeting or function
- Carry out any miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as requested by management pertaining to total quality service delivered in The Edgewater
- Read and understand all of Banquet Event Order details, including start time and beverage requirements
- Other duties as assigned
