This includes regular cleaning of coolers, floors, kitchen equipment, tools, drains, and walls to uphold strict sanitary conditions. The steward needs to efficiently stock all plateware and silverware across various restaurant venues, ensuring that par levels are maintained, particularly during busy periods. Additionally, this role includes performing routine maintenance on dishwashing machinery, including draining, de-liming, and keeping the dish area clean and functional at all times.

Key duties also extend to waste management, which involves emptying trash bins, collecting and removing waste, separating recyclables, and disposing of grease properly. The steward supports food preparation by supplying dishware as needed and removing soiled dishware and cooking equipment from preparation stations, ensuring a clean and organized kitchen environment. Maintaining cleanliness of floors, machinery, shelving, and carts throughout the shift is crucial for operational success and safety compliance.

Beyond cleaning and organizing, the role includes miscellaneous responsibilities such as polishing silverware, assisting in storerooms, and preparing for banquets and special events as assigned. The steward is expected to maintain a high level of organization, proper rack stacking, silver presoaking, and ensure the dish machine operates smoothly. This position demands a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a kitchen team. Job Qualifications

  • Six months to one-year experience in housekeeping, janitorial, and stewarding preferred
  • Great organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand, lift, walk, bend, and stoop throughout duration of shift
  • Commitment to safety guidelines
  • Excels both independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Responsible for keeping the dish room, plateware, and overall cleanliness of the kitchen areas
  • Stock all plateware and silverware to all restaurant venues, keeping par levels intact during peak business periods
  • Perform periodic maintenance and draining of the dish machine, de-liming, and overall cleanliness of the dish area
  • Empty trash bins, collect and remove waste from the floor and work surfaces, separate recyclables and properly dispose of grease
  • Supply dishware to food preparation stations as needed
