Job Description
Cote Family Companies is a distinguished family-owned enterprise with over 100 years of heritage and dedication to delivering unique and transformative guest experiences. This company operates various resorts that offer a comprehensive range of services, including accommodations, golf, spa, food and beverage, retail, equestrian activities, and conference and event opportunities. Alongside their resorts, Cote Family Companies also manages camps that focus on creating transformational memories, designed to leave lasting impressions on attendees. With a strong track record of investment in its ventures and strategic growth plans, the company continues to build its legacy and expand its influence in the hospitality and event spaces.
At the heart of Cote Family Companies is the core philosophy known as COTECares, which embodies a "Way of Life" focused on enriching the lives of its community members and associates. COTECares promotes an inclusive, respectful, and empowering workplace culture, emphasizing safety, appreciation, excitement, and a profound sense of belonging among all team members. This commitment extends beyond the workplace into community involvement and fosters a supportive environment aligned with the company’s mission and values.
The role of a banquet server within Cote Family Companies is critical to delivering operational excellence during various banquets, functions, and special events. As a banquet server, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a seamless and exceptional food and beverage experience for guests through attentiveness, efficiency, and professionalism. Key responsibilities include setting up function rooms with precise attention to detail, including arranging linens, china, glass, and silverware to accommodate the required number of attendees. The server will be expected to manage pre-function preparations, like setting up salads and water, and adhere strictly to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring all specifications for groups, clients, and guests are met.
During events, the banquet server will perform table service duties such as promptly serving courses, handling buffet-style service, managing drink refills, and accommodating guest requests with a friendly demeanor. Familiarity with the menu, including ingredients and preparation methods, is essential to answer guest questions knowledgeably. The server will also support social functions and cocktail receptions by serving hors d'oeuvres and creating a warm, welcoming environment.
Post-function responsibilities include clearing tables, breaking down set-ups, resetting function rooms for subsequent events, and completing closing duties as outlined in banquet-closing sheets. The role calls for prompt resolution of any guest issues, with effective communication to supervisors or managers as needed. A comprehensive knowledge of the resort and surrounding area is also essential to assist guests with inquiries.
This position demands excellent time management, physical stamina (including lifting over 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, and repetitive movements), and the flexibility to work varied hours as events require. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, particularly due to potential wine service responsibilities. Preference is given to applicants with a high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience and basic knowledge of wine and its service. Career advancement opportunities exist within this role, where exceptional performers may progress to lead or captain-level positions, leveraging their strategic development and expanded scope of responsibilities. Overall, this banquet server position is an integral part of Cote Family Companies’ mission to provide transformative experiences and exceptional memories for every guest served.
